Most high school runners focus heavily on mileage but without strength training, they’re missing a key piece of the performance puzzle. Strength training improves running economy, builds power and coordination and significantly reduces the risk of common overuse injuries like shin splints, knee pain, and stress fractures. For growing athletes, it also supports healthy development and builds long-term resilience. This off-season is the perfect time to lay a strong foundation so you can show up next season faster, stronger and more injury-resistant than ever!

This program is designed specifically for high school runners (grades 9–12) looking to build strength, improve performance and stay injury-free during the off-season. It's ideal for cross country and track athletes of all levels. Special considerations will be made for rising 8th graders interested,

We understand that this is a busy time for athletes! By committing to the 8 week program, you will have full access to the workouts that can be done remotely while you travel.

The program will begin the week of June 2nd and run through August 1st. The exact schedule is TBD but there will be 3-4 weekly offerings for athletes.

Perfect! As physical therapists, we specialize in teaching proper form and movement mechanics from the ground up. Every exercise is coached and progressed based on the athlete’s skill level.

As physical therapists, we’re trained to safely work with athletes recovering from injury. We can adapt the program to fit individual needs and help support a safe return to full training.

Yes! Families can use HSA/FSA funds for this type of training since it's provided by licensed physical therapists. We can provide a receipt for reimbursement if needed.

All strength training sessions will be held at Formwell Personal Training in Sandy Springs (lTempo Physical Therapy & Performance is located within this gym)
